Notes from the Library

I went to the library today and picked up some books on collaborative writing, using technology in the classroom, and the lone book on blogging that related to our project. We can look through the books more carefully and divide up some reading. I also got a few tips on searching for electronic information on blogging from the librarian. I used the MLA bibliographic search that he suggested. After a quick search, it looked like about 10 potentially useful articles in the area of blogging. I'll try the ERIC database he suggested later. I'm hopeful we will find more information on blogging in writing classrooms, but at the same time am feeling excited that this is a relatively new use of technology in the writing classroom. The feeling that there is a lot of potential there is empowering. I spoke with our classmate Josh today about his use of blogging to track the reading he is doing in class. He is posting short summaries of articles he reads to help him understand and remember the information. Also, he is hopeful this will serve as a reference for him as he moves through coursework. I found that quite clever and thought we may want to consider posting some information as we read as well.
