Seeker Posts

Thanks for sending me that seeker post. What is a seeker post, you ask? A seeker post is when one blogger posts for another blogger to check (seek) a previous post. So when you sent your seeker post about the meeting minutes, I had to seek the previous post to read your comments. Like that phrase? I do.

I also thought of "heads-up post" and "post-it post" (as in a post-it note) and "reminder post" and "notification post." But they all came after seeker post, which proves you should always go with your first choice.

Oh...I can already see the hip way that seeker post could be shortened to: "Thanks for the seeker. I'll look at your post now."

I like phrases.

Is it normal to write a comment (now two comments) about a blog you posted yourself and before anyone else had a chance to respond?

I also like phrases. And I like your choice of phrase. I'll try to see how hip I can be in use of your lingo (note: this will probably not be very hip, lol)!

Yes, it is completely normal. And fun!

OK...more types of discourse phrasing:

Your use of LOL falls into Leet Speak, which began with a bunch of tech people who created their own language/symbols so others couldn't decipher blog posts and other eletronic communication. Today, phrases such as OMG, LOL, 2day, are watered down versions of the original Leet Speak (AKA...1337...which means "leet" in this language.)

I first saw Leet Speak in Diane's book, and I looked it up online. Pretty cool. Talk about code switching.

An interesting off-shoot of that is whether instructors would be able to decipher blog posts by the students and whether some guidelines for use of this "leet speak" would be necessary. My vocabulary of these phrases is quite small. TTYL :)
